Freesat (which some people still may not have heard of or are not too sure what it is) have now announced the launch of their mobile companion app. If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch you can download the app and make use of the basic programme guide to check out what’s on TV. You can also browse the “roll back TV guide” which allows you to have a look at what programmes you might have missed out on over the last 7 days and then watch them. You can see TV recommendations as well as browsing through hot picks for the week ahead and if there’s something that takes your fancy you can set a reminder for it so you don’t forget to watch it.

One of the best things about it though is that if you are out and suddenly remember that you forgot to set a record for your favourite programme you can do so remotely, just use the app to remotely programme your box to record it, panic over!  (To remote record as well, you will need a Freesat ID which you can get by going to freesat.co.uk/id and one of the following Freetime boxes: Freesat+ HD with Freetime 500GB or Freesat+ HD with Freetime 1TB)

In the app you can also search and find programmes from On Demand players such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5. If you have a Humax Freetime set top box you can launch one of the programmes on these directly to your TV. If you don’t yet have one of these then you can have a look at our range by clicking here.

With Freesat you can still keep your Sky subscription and box if you want to as although you need a satellite dish to be able to enjoy Freesat you can connect both your Sky and Freesat to the same box and have one playing in one room and one in another. A perfect solution if you don’t want the added expense of having to pay for another Sky service in another room, just get a Freesat box and take advantage of all the amazing channels you can find in your bedroom or kitchen for example.

So if you haven’t get got yourself a Freesat box yet with Freetime then why not have a look at our Freesat Boxes here. Or if you need a hand with anything just give us a call on 0161 359 3011 or pop in store to see us.
